How many extra orders would cover your recovery costs?

Use your own costs to estimate break-even contribution. The calculator runs in your browser, without submitting or saving the figures. The starting values are an example, not a sales forecast.

These must be additional orders caused by recovery. Attributed orders alone do not establish that effect.

The calculation

Contribution per order = order value − product costs − fulfillment and payment costs − discount − expected refund/return cost. Enter order value excluding tax and include shipping income and its cost consistently.

Monthly recovery cost = monthly software cost + email-provider cost. Break-even additional orders = monthly recovery cost ÷ contribution per order, rounded up. If contribution is zero or negative, this set of assumptions cannot cover a positive recovery cost.

For example, a €70 order less €28 of product costs, €7 of other variable costs, a €5 discount and a €2 return allowance leaves €28 of estimated contribution. €29 software plus €5 sending cost would require two additional orders to cover €34.

Use a single currency throughout

The currency selector changes the display label only; it does not fetch an exchange rate or convert prices. Convert a USD subscription or provider invoice into your reporting currency yourself before entering it. WooCommerce store currency is separate from WakeMyCart’s independently fixed USD, EUR, GBP, CAD and AUD plan prices.

What this estimate cannot tell you

This is a contribution model, not an accounting profit statement. It excludes any fixed overhead and tax treatment you have not included. Return costs and order values vary; repeat the calculation with conservative assumptions.

An attributed order is not necessarily an extra order caused by the email. Some shoppers would have returned without a reminder. A genuine holdout experiment is needed to estimate that incremental effect; the calculator does not estimate it and WakeMyCart’s two-message-variant test is not a no-message holdout.

Use the result to decide what to measure, not to promise a recovery percentage. Compare actual discounts, refunds and provider bills with your assumptions.
