Protect estimated contribution when offering a discount

Use verified product costs, order expenses, fees and merchant limits to cap the final-message offer.

WakeMyCart documentation · Free 1.1.8 · Pro 1.1.8

Set the inputs

  1. Enter a verified WakeMyCart unit cost on each simple product or variation in WooCommerce. A blank override uses positive native WooCommerce COGS when available; enter zero only when the cost is genuinely zero.
  2. Open Flows → Default offer rules, or the offer policy for a particular flow. Enable contribution protection.
  3. Enter fixed expenses per order, the variable fee percentage, the minimum contribution, a percentage ceiling and an optional amount cap. Use the store base currency, excluding tax.
  4. Set the requested final-reminder discount and the local WordPress maximum. All limits apply; the smaller permitted offer wins.
  5. Try known costs, missing costs and a low-value cart in the simulator, then test coupon creation and redemption on staging.

How the estimate is calculated

Estimated contribution = (product subtotal − proposed discount) × (1 − variable fee rate) − product costs − fixed expenses. The permitted offer preserves the merchant’s minimum contribution and both discount ceilings. Shipping subsidies, packaging and other expenses must be included in the inputs if they matter to the estimate.

WordPress refreshes product costs and uses no more than the lower of captured and current tax-exclusive product prices. Coupon redemption checks current cart costs and prices again. Existing coupon discounts are not deducted twice during recalculation. Estimates do not equal accounting profit and cannot cover costs the merchant has not supplied.

When an offer is withheld

  • A product cost is missing, disabled or unverified. Native zero COGS is unknown unless explicitly overridden with a verified zero.
  • The cart uses another currency, the product has unsupported cost metadata, or the contribution target leaves no budget.
  • The local maximum is zero, the cart is below the local minimum, or an issued recovery coupon has expired, been used or changed.
  • Bundles, subscriptions, add-ons and custom cart data need a verified cost adapter before protected offers are permitted.
